4-Week Intro to Handbuilding (Sculpting) Course
Interested in learning how to transform clay into beautiful ceramic pieces? This beginner-friendly course introduces you to the art of handbuilding. No experience required!
What’s Included in the Course:Over four weekly sessions, you’ll explore essential handbuilding techniques including:
- Slab building
- Pinching
- Coiling
- Basic glazing and decoration
Note: This course does not include pottery wheel instruction.
Course Structure
- Weeks 1 & 2: Learn foundational techniques while creating functional pieces like bowls, tumblers, or other usable forms.
- Week 3: Begin working on your own personal project with guidance from our instructors.
- Week 4: We’ll cover essential theory on the key risks associated with clay and glazes, important considerations to keep in mind before and during the firing process.

Let your creativity shine! Some popular personal projects include:
- A sushi platter using the Kurinuki technique
- A custom jewelry set
- Your own handmade mug
- A soap dish
- Ring holders

📅 Duration: 4 weekly sessions, 2 hours each.
+ 10 extra hours of Open Studio access (see details below).
🗓️ Dates & Times: Choose your preferred time from the dropdown menu
- Courses start with a minimum of 3 participants. You're welcome to reserve your spot and await confirmation!
✨ Bonus:
- All students receive free “Course Membership” access to 10 hours of Open Studio time during the duration of the course, a chance to practice and play with clay outside class time.
- Most participants make around 5 pieces, with up to 8 allowed using the clay provided.
- Please note: All participants must begin cleaning 20 minutes before class ends.

IMPORTANT: If you pay for a course and the course has to be cancelled by Tour Potier Studio Céramique, we will return 100% of your pay.
CANCELLATION POLICY
All Classes are eligible for a refund if cancelled 2 weeks prior to the start date. A 20% administration fee will be charged for a refund. No refund will be offered if cancelling within 2 weeks of the class' start date, so please consider transferring your class to a friend (additional fees apply).
Missed class: (only for 2+ weeks classes): missed classes are not refundable. In the event you miss a class you could come for up to 2 hours to the studio for independent practice (studio time), no teaching/feedback will be offered during this time but you can practice on your own.
