Beginner’s 2, 4-week Pottery Wheel Course
 
You've built a solid foundation, from coning and trimming to glazing. Now it's time to refine your technique and elevate your skills!
 
We’ll revisit and refine wedging techniques, reinforce your centering and trimming skills, and focus intensively on forming cylinders that are taller and thinner. You’ll also be introduced to commercial glaze testing to further expand your creative control and knowledge.

  • Students who know the basics of pottery wheel throwing.
  • You’ve done coning, trimming, glazing, and want to refine your technique.
  • Artists seeking growth but not yet aiming for advanced-level complexity.
 
What we will teach:
 
  • Refine wedging technique.
  • Improve centering and trimming.
  • Focus on creating taller, thinner cylinders.
  • Explore commercial glaze testing for deeper understanding.
  • Personalized guidance based on each student’s level.
 
 
Progression:
 
  • Clay amount will increase (from 550g to 750g).
  • Piece dimensions will become larger as you improve.
  • (Optional) Learn to plan and measure clay to produce consistently sized pieces.
  • (Optional) Explore controlling: Learn to reshape bowls back into cylinders with more control.
 
Course details

Duration: 2 hours/week, for 4 weeks. Every consecutive week, on the same day and hour.

Availability: If you're able to choose the number of spots after selecting your date, you can go ahead with payment.
 
Includes:
 
  • All materials and kiln firings for up to 8 pieces made during the course (with the clay provided).
  • 1 free Course Membership for Open Studio access (10 hours) to practice independently throughout the course duration.
 
Other details:
 
  • Confirmed with 3+ participants. Reserve your place while the course fills up.
  • Cleanup: All participants will start cleaning 20 minutes before the class ends.
  • Ages: Adults or 16 +
 
Getting ready for the wheel experience:
 
 
  • Dress comfortably in clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
  • Bring an apron (or embrace your clay-splattered look!)
  • Bring your own recycled bags to cover your pieces.
  • Short nails make shaping easier.
  • Tie back long hair to keep it out of the clay

    IMPORTANT: If you pay for a course and the course has to be cancelled by Tour Potier Studio Céramique, we will return 100% of your pay. 

     

    CANCELLATION POLICY

    All Classes are eligible for a refund if cancelled 2 weeks prior to the start date. A 20% administration fee will be charged for a refund. No refund will be offered if cancelling within 2 weeks of the class' start date, so please consider transferring your class to a friend (additional fees apply). 

    ​Missed class: (only for 2+ weeks classes):  missed classes are not refundable. In the event you miss a class you could come for up to 2 hours to the studio for independent practice (studio time), no teaching/feedback will be offered during this time but you can practice on your own.

    Cours manqué: (Uniquement pour les cours de 2 ou plus de 2 semaines): les cours manqués ne sont pas remboursables. Si vous manquez un cours, vous pouvez vous rendre au studio pour une pratique indépendante (temps de studio), aucun enseignement / feedback ne sera offert pendant cette période, mais vous pouvez vous exercer seul.
