This class is all about handbuilding a tumbler, using an expressive clay art method where your hands do all the shaping. No spinning wheel involved, just your creativity and a block of clay! You’ll learn how to sculp a beautiful, usable tumbler that’s perfect for your favorite drink, hot choco, coffee, winter wine, or the every morning favorite juice on your breakfast.
You'll start with a simple block of clay and shape it with your own hands. It’s tactile, creative, and incredibly satisfying.
Whether you're crafting a personal tumbler for your special use, or simply as a decorative piece, this flash class will guide you through the process of making something truly personal and usable.
🎨 What You’ll Learn:
- Slab building technique: the foundation of handbuilt ceramics.
- Pinching and/or coiling: choose one or combine both to shape your unique bowl.
- Carving and texturizing: Optional decorating styles.
- Underglazing: Color engobes to paint your piece with vibrant ceramic pigments.
Your creation will be food-safe and ready for pickup after approximately 6 weeks, once our studio completes the glazing and firing process (bisque + glaze). We’ll take care of all the technical steps, just bring your creativity!

Important Notes:

- Includes: materials + 1 piece fired (bisque + glaze).
- Pieces ready for pickup: 6 weeks later.
- Cleaning: All participants will start cleaning 20 minutes before the class ends.

IMPORTANT: If you pay for a course and the course has to be cancelled by Tour Potier Studio Céramique, we will return 100% of your pay.
CANCELLATION POLICY
All Classes are eligible for a refund if cancelled 2 weeks prior to the start date. A 20% administration fee will be charged for a refund. No refund will be offered if cancelling within 2 weeks of the class' start date, so please consider transferring your class to a friend (additional fees apply).
Missed class: (only for 2+ weeks classes): missed classes are not refundable. In the event you miss a class you could come for up to 2 hours to the studio for independent practice (studio time), no teaching/feedback will be offered during this time but you can practice on your own.
